One of the most important factors in a young person’s life is education. But it’s hard to stick with school if you don’t have a place to live and you’re not sure where the next meal is coming from.

This is why Rain City Capital is very proud to announce its $100 Mission partnership with Washington Kids in Transition.

Washington Kids in Transition provides basic needs to homeless students residing in Washington state, including food, emergency closets, and motel vouchers. There are 4,280 Seattle Public School students experiencing homelessness. Though Washington Kids in Transition focuses on Snohomish County, there are over 600 homeless students in the Edmonds school district alone. Washington Kids in Transition makes sure students get a daily snack every school day. Last year, they gave over 32,000 small bags of food to students in need.

Along with food, Washington Kids in Transition works with school social workers to supply students with toiletries, dental products, and other basic needs. When necessary, they provide students’ families with motel vouchers—giving them temporary shelter while they arrange housing. They even grant student wishes: providing sports equipment, sleeping bags, bus passes, and even tickets to prom!

Rain City Capital is happy to announce its donation of $18,900 from our 3rd Quarter of 2017 to Washington Kids in Transition. That’s 189 loans, and each borrower’s loan meant $100 to this awesome organization. By working with Rain City, you’ve helped feed local students and keep them in school. That’s real and lasting mutual success in action.
