Pay range: $95,000 - $110,000 annually

About the Job
As our Loan Servicing Accounting Manager, your main role is to lead the accounting functions for Tandem Servicing, but you will work very closely with the accounting team of our parent company (we share an office space, so it’s like one big team). The Accounting Manager is responsible for a wide array of responsibilities related to general accounting including managing and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of day-to-day GL accounting, daily/monthly GL & bank account reconciliations, accounts payable, and monthly financial reporting. This role is part of a team that is critical to keeping Tandem running smoothly and requires collaboration across multiple teams.
Roles and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management
Provide leadership to accounting staff through effective communication, delegation, coaching, training, performance reviews, professional development planning, and goal setting.
Partner with HR to recruit, interview, hire, and onboard accounting staff.
Accounting Operations
Manage and oversee daily loan accounting operations, including GL & bank reconciliations, payment processing, and reporting.
Ensure the accurate application of loan payments and adjustments.
Responsible for timely and accurate month end close.
Collaborate with internal departments including finance, investor accounting, operations, and compliance to ensure seamless operations.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy.
Assist with audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reporting.
Drive process improvements and automation efforts within loan servicing accounting.
Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Maintain a chart of accounts including creating new and deactivating GLs as needed.
Create monthly accounting reports to management & parent company within required times frames including but not limited to:
Monthly accruals, prepaids, etc
Revenue reporting by state
Balance sheet GL reconciliations
Maintain servicing core systems, including:
Be an SME and primary researcher for all types of loan system errors or discrepancies in interest accruals, non-posts, etc.
Responsible for understanding the company’s GL system including investigating and resolving any discrepancies caused by transactions posted in servicing system.
Maintain interfaces with other systems such as accounting, loan production, etc.
Coordinate and produce year end IRS reporting
Create and maintain online documented policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in loan servicing, loan accounting, or related financial management role.
Strong knowledge of loan accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Experience with financial, USAP, and SOC-1 audits preferred.
Experience with loan servicing software and financial systems.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.

Tandem Servicing offers a hybrid work environment, which means employees perform their duties remotely or in person and will be expected to check email, phone, and text messages throughout the day and respond in a timely fashion consistent with a normal company workday. This role must be willing to commute to our local office on a weekly basis, at a minimum of once per week, based on the needs of the position, the department, and the company workday.
