Name: Meredith Zimmerman
Title: QC & Recording Specialist (soon to be Loan Processor)
Years at Rain City: six months
Can you describe what you do at Rain City Capital?
I do the recording of our deeds for Oregon and Washington. I review everyone’s loan documents to ensure all the information is correct. I put the collateral packages together to send to our banks. And sometimes… I process a loan!
Why did you apply to work at Rain City?
Sarah Newhouse raved about the company and how nice everyone was so I applied and got hired.
How do you like it here?
I love it. As far as the atmosphere goes, it’s my favorite company that I’ve worked for. Everyone is really friendly. The “Seattle Freeze” doesn’t exist in this office. Other places can be cold or competitive, but it’s just not like that here.
Do you have a special talent?
Um, no. I really don’t.
How about a guilty pleasure?
As cheezy at it sounds, Bravo Reality TV. The Real Housewives series. I watch all of them. But I believe you shouldn’t feel guilty about guilty pleasures.
What advice would you give yourself ten years ago?
Two things: “Don’t move to a new state for a significant other” and “I should have stayed in ultrasound school.”
What’s your pet peeve?
The passive-aggressiveness of certain types in the Pacific Northwest. If you have an issue, you should just talk about it!
Do you have any tips for a good work/life balance?
Drink. That’s probably not a wise answer.
I recommend having a pet. I have two jobs; I used to work seven days a week. Now I make sure I have at least one day off so I can recharge.
What’s your favorite funny story about yourself?
Oh Jesus. I can tell you an embarrassing story. I used to date a professional baseball player. We were in Cincinnati at the end of the season at a bar owned by a former Reds player. This guy handed me a cigar, lit, and I accidentally tried to smoke it from the wrong end.
That ended my night pretty fast.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Feisty. Compassionate. Competitive.
Where’s your favorite place to be?
PNC Park (the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball stadium).
If you were to win a high school year book award right now, what would it be?
What is the best, worst, or weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Bartending. Running a restaurant in general. Because you deal with so much sh*#. So much drama.
What are the top 3 highlights of your life?
- The Superbowl 43 XLIII 2008 Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals.
- My undergraduate college graduation day.
- My year and a half traveling in South Korea.
Do you have a quote or life motto you’d like to share?
Oh my God. It’s an Eric Cartman quote. “If you want to find some quality friends, you gotta wade through all the di@#s first.”
You receive a fair amount of teasing around the office for your, err, passionate fandom of a certain football team from Pittsburgh. How would you like to respond to that teasing now that you have a public forum to do so?
Says it all.
Pam Drexler, Executive Vice President of Rain City Capital had this to say about Meredith:
Meredith fits in as a solid participant in football (where she tolerates our teasing of her choice of football teams), drinking, and sharing my love of jewelry. She is so detail oriented and always willing to take on more. Such a team player. So glad she joined us, and I’m looking forward to having her enjoy her next position here in Loan Processing!
