As you may have noticed, it’s been some time since we’ve made an update on the status of Rain City Capital’s $100 Mission. Here at Rain City Capital, we believe it’s important to not only find a charity that has the drive and passion to help those in need, but also the know-how and ability to implement such change effectively. That’s why we’ve taken the time to implement a committee to help find charity partners and ensure our borrowers’ donations are going to make a difference.
We’re happy to announce our 2016 fourth quarter partnership with Dancing Dog Farm & Rescue, a small non-profit group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.
While it’s important to assist humans in our community, sometimes our furry friends also need a helping hand. In the Seattle area alone, there are thousands of abandoned animals in need of food, shelter, and medical care. These animals can die from starvation, disease, or be put down if they’re not rescued.
Enter Dancing Dog Farm & Rescue! Founded in 2013 by Wendy Carpenter and Rita Hutcheson, Dancing Dog has found homes for over 250 dogs, 100 cats, and even a few sheep and chickens. Because Dancing Dog is willing to take on extreme cases, costs for caring for these animals can range from $100 to $1,000. They make sure that all their animals are spayed or neutered, chipped, and given all their necessary shots.
During last year’s fourth quarter, Rain City Capital raised $17,800 to benefit Dancing Dog Farm & Rescue—which comes from 178 transactions with our loyal borrowers!
Dancing Dog Farm & Rescue’s long term goals are to rehabilitate the shop on their property into a designated rescue shelter so they can accommodate regular volunteers. Along with financial donations, they welcome all sorts of help. The more people who can foster animals, the easier it is for them to find a permanent home. Also, donations of pet food, collars, leashes, pet toys, and other animal-related items are greatly appreciated!

Combined with our previous quarters’ partnerships with the PDX Diaper Bank, Beautiful Soles, and the MORELove Project, we’ve raised over $91,000 for charities during 2016! Frankly, we’re blown away by this and would like to thank all our partners. Our success is your success, and together, we’re making a positive change in the world around us. Here’s to making 2017 an even better year!
